Confidence is the most important thing.

June 13, 2010

It’s been a weekend with way too much work in it – I’m still crawling through those school reports that I was moaning about on Tuesday. But I’ve had enough time out with friends to make it feel like a bit of a break.

As planned, Janey came round this afternoon to check out my dress selection. And the winner is:

We decided that it works because:

  • The drapey bodice attracts attention to the right places and away from my fat stomach.
  • That kind of ruffly thing hanging from the bodice looks like it might be kind of fattening, but actually does a good disguise job on the afore-mentioned stomach.
  • The maxi length is pretty elegant and doesn’t cut my height in half.

Charla Krupp would be so proud.

Having my arms out on display still feels problematic, but Janey swears blind that no-one will be looking at my arms. I hope she’s right. As I had hoped, she was full of positive statements that made me feel that age-spots are just as cute as freckles, carrying a bit of extra weight is very flattering to the face, and confidence is the most important thing about anyone’s appearance. She may well be right on that one.

We should just go for it. I have my theory about good hair taking pounds off. A big, friendly smile probably does the same.

We went for a big long walk in the rain. As soon as we finished, the sun came out. It’s still shining beautifully. Bad timing, but pretty to see now.

Are you going to take a picture of you in the dress and show us ? 😀

I agree with the fat in the face – I look over 10 years younger thanks to it!

And the dress picture is up! Yes, losing a lot of weight these days rarely seems to do anything for anyone’s face. Nice to be able to use that as a genuine, positive reason not to get skinny.
